Anolon Advanced Cutlery

An Anolon Advanced Cutlery knife block set runs between $100 and $200, depending on the size of the block set. It is one of the best knife sets you’ll find in this price range. The features you get with these knives are typical of what you’d find in knife sets that would run you hundreds of dollars more.

The blades on these fine knives are crafted from high-carbon Japanese stainless steel that is designed to stay sharp while resisting stains and rust. The steel is heat-treated, then ice-hardened to create the strongest steel possible. The blades on the kitchen knives are forged in order to ensure durability, while the steak knives are stamped and have a fine edge that cuts right through meat instead of ripping and tearing it.

The Sure Grip handles are an item that people either love or hate. They’re made of a rubber polymer that is softer to the touch than wood. Some people really like the fact that they are light weight and comfortable, and are designed to be an ergonomic alternative to wood. On the downside, they can get damaged in the sink if left to rub against other silverware and knives.

The Advanced Cutlery series of knives are some of the best balanced knives on the market. They feature a counter-balance cap that helps balance the handle against the blade and thick bolster that helps with control.

Here are some of the Anolon Advanced knives and sets that are available now:

Anolon Advanced Cutlery 15-Piece Knife Set with Block

The Anolon Advanced 15-piece knife set at first glance looks very similar to the 17-piece set. There are a couple key differences. You get the same knives you do with the 17-piece set, minus a couple Anolon steak knives. The main difference is this set gives you a 7-inch Santoku instead of a five inch Santoku. For those who do a lot of cutting and slicing of meats and vegetables, the 7-inch Santoku is a great knife. The other difference is this set comes with a birch block instead of a bamboo block.

Anolon Bronze Cutlery

Anolon Bronze is Anolon’s flagship line of cutlery. A full 15-piece set will run you right around a buck fifty, but the price is good for what you get. The blades are made of high-carbon German steel that is heat forged then ice hardened to ensure maximum durability and ability to hold an edge.

The blades are full-tang, meaning they extend all the way to the end of the handle. Most full-tang blades have the tang exposed, which allows dirt and grime to get into the gaps between the blade and handle. The Sure Grip handles on these knives cover the tang completely, protecting the tang from corrosion and unsanitary conditions. The Sure Grip material is something owners either love or hate. It’s softer and lighter than a traditional wood or plastic handle, and is ideal for those who spend long days in the kitchen and want a lighter alternative to the norm.

The Anolon Bronze line of cutlery is both functional and attractive. You get a handsome hardwood block when you buy the larger sets, so you can show off your new set of knives by placing it on the counter.

Anolon Bronze 17-pc. Knife Block Set

Anolon 17-pc. Advanced Cutlery Knife Block Set, Bronze

The Anolon Bronze 17-piece Knife Block Set is the best set of knives Anolon sells. It comes with the following knives:

  • 8-inch Chef’s Knife
  • 8-inch Slicer
  • 8-inch Bread Knife
  • 5-inch Serrated Utility Knife
  • 5-inch Santoku Knife
  • 3.5-inch Paring Knife
  • Eight 5-inch Anolon Steak Knives

The only downside to buying this set is you don’t get the 7-inch Santoku blade that you do with the 15-piece Anolon Bronze set below. If you ask me, it should be the other way around. Reward buyers of the bigger set with the bigger Santoku. Oh well, rant over.

Anolon Steak Knives

Anolon Steak Knives are super-sharp knives designed to cut through meat instead of tearing it apart. They’re cheap enough to where you should be able to buy a couple sets so you have enough steak knives on hand for everyone in the house that may need one.

They work great on pan-fried and barbecued steaks and are great for pork chops and other tough meats that can cause problems with dull knives. The blades are made of high-carbon stainless steel that is resistant to rust and corrosion. They feature the SureGrip handles Anolon has become known for. While we’re not entirely sold on these handles for kitchen cutlery, we do like them on the steak knives. They feel good in your hands and provide a sure grip as you cut right through any kind of meat.

Anolon Knife Set Reviews 2019

Anolon built their reputation selling cookware and only recently stepped into the cutlery arena. Fans of Anolon’s cookware can rest assured that their cutlery is of the same quality.

There are 3 main categories of Anolon knives, all 3 of which are crafted from high-quality German steel. The Anolon Advanced knives are made of either high-carbon steel or stainless steel, while the Anolon Bronze Collection is made of high-carbon stainless steel. The high-carbon stainless is the best of bunch, giving you protection from corrosion and sharp blades that can hold an edge.

Regardless of the type of steel, Analon’s blades are forged instead of cut, which makes them sharper and able to handle more abuse. Analon knife sets are slightly cheaper than other knives in their class because they are made in China, but don’t automatically categorize them as cheap because of where they’re made. Anolon has built a group of skilled craftsman who are trained to create the blades with high-tech machinery. You’re still getting a good knife, you’re just getting it at a price point that is more affordable than most mid-range sets of kitchen cutlery.

The only downside, and this is only a downside to those who prefer wood handles, to the Anolon knife sets are some people don’t care for the rubber handles. There are some complaints that these handles are more susceptible to nicks and dings, and are easily damaged if dropped or left in a crowded sink or drawer. While the handles may be slightly more easy to nick and chip, leaving a knife in a sink or drawer will damage a lot more than just the handles. The upside to the SureGrip handles is that they are comfortable in your hand, and are ergonomically designed. They even have a weight balancing cap at the end to endure each handle is optimally balanced against the blade.

No matter what you’re looking for, there should be an Analon knife set available to suit your needs. They offer great knives at a good price.

Anolon also offers Anolon Steak Knives in a four-piece set in either the bronze or black color.
